Contract Received!

It’s been 6 months since I first started the process of applying to teach English in South Korea… and man, has it been a process. After completing the long “To Do” list of applying to public schools (including applications, official stamps, seals, and signatures, essays, chasing down letters of recommendation, and much more) I’ve finally been hired and received my starting date! I am to arrive in Korea on September 25th… which is barely 3 weeks away!
It is insane to me to think that I am completely uprooting my life here and taking it to a completely foreign country, where I know but one person, who will be living six hours away from me. It’s a little daunting, but also quite exciting! I’ve been wanting to do something like this for a while. As a transfer student, it was very difficult for me to find time to study abroad in college. I’ve always had the travel bug, but never the funds to feed it. This opportunity is great not just for traveling, but for doing something that completely thrusts me out of my comfort zone. I believe that challenging yourself in life is one of the best ways to grow as a person. This is the perfect timing for me to embark on a journey like this. I’m broke from college, living at home, and don’t have a boyfriend to tie me down… so I will fly as free as a bird… and see where life takes me.
As for getting everything in order for South Korea, I still need to apply for my visa and purchase a plane ticket, but beyond that it’s pretty official.
I will update this again before I leave, but just thought I’d get the hang of blogging and start now! I hope this serves as a good way to keep in touch and let all my family and friends know what’s going on with me and Korea. I’d love to hear back from any of you! Feel free to comment, e-mail, facebook me any time! :)
I’ll leave you with this video, which apparently has become a hit not only in South Korea, but in the states as well.

For those curious:
EPIK - The Government program that hires for most public schools.
Footprints Recruiting - The amazing recruiting agency that I used.
If you want anymore info about it, let me know, I’d be happy to share.
